Was President Donald Trump babysitting Elon Musk’s son in the Oval Office? X's mother Grimes does not seem pleased
Former President Donald Trump unexpectedly babysat Elon Musk's four-year-old son during a White House press conference. The comical scene gained social media attention as the mischievous child stole the show. Grimes, the boy's mother, expressed di...

Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), addressed reporters with his usual flair. “Your tax dollars need to be spent wisely. It’s just common sense,” Musk declared, attempting to make his case. However, the audience found it hard to focus as X stood atop the presidential desk, picked his nose, and mimicked his father’s every move. At one point, Trump awkwardly chimed in, calling the boy “a high IQ individual.”
As X hopped onto Musk’s shoulders and shouted over his dad, social media users went wild. Trump’s visible discomfort became fodder for memes, and it didn’t take long for the hashtag #TrumpBabysitsX to trend across platforms.
Grimes Weighs In
However, not everyone was amused. Grimes, musician and Musk’s ex-partner, expressed her discontent over her son’s surprise TV presence. Taking to social media, she admitted she had no idea X would be at the White House.“He should not be in public like this. I did not see this. Thank you for alerting me,” Grimes wrote. Despite her disapproval, she acknowledged her son’s behavior: “But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”
Little X’s antics didn’t stop at desk acrobatics. At one point, the four-year-old politely asked Trump for permission to use the bathroom, much to the delight of social media users. “Lil X was very polite today!” one Twitter user remarked. “You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT, ‘Please forgive me, I need to pee.’”
While the comment was intended as praise, it seemed to catch Grimes off-guard, leading to further frustration over the situation.
A Pattern Emerges
This wasn’t the first time X had accompanied Musk to high-profile events. The young boy had previously been seen on stage at rallies and even appeared in an interview Musk gave to right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
