Want to win your lady love? Play safely & don't be mean

There are rules in every competition, even when it comes to matters of the heart. Read the fine print to stay ahead in the game.

When you were a child, if you wanted something, all you had to do was hold on to it, scream or lock it away. But, when it comes to women, you can’t behave the same . When another man is also eyeing the woman you’ve been interested in, it can get exasperating. You’re suddenly in competition and in no control of the outcome. But, if you follow these pointers, it could help you come out on top.

Play it cool
When you see that someone else is flirting with the girl you like, your automatic reaction is jealousy and you will want to offer some grand romantic gesture to win her. However, both these reactions can make you come off as desperate and needy. Not the best qualities to up your chances. You cannot control what the other man does and you surely can’t control what the object of your affections will feel. So don’t worry about what you cannot stop. Control what you can, which is your own feelings. Play it cool and avoid acting impulsively.

Don’t be Mr Mean
It may be tempting to dig up dirt on your competition, but no matter how juicy or incriminating the evidence, the only person who is going to look bad in the whole situation is you. Trying to get a foot up by putting someone else down is a coward’s approach to competition and women can see right through it. Even simple things like criticising his dress sense will make you look petty and insecure. Instead, try complimenting him. Say something like this to her, “You guys would make a cute couple. I wish I could rock skinny jeans like him. I probably couldn’t fit my arm in them.” Complimenting him with a hint of sarcasm will make her laugh, show you’re not insecure and best of all, show off your muscular arms too.

Tit for tat
If she’s out there talking to other guys, why are you holed up and worried about her running off with one of them? Get out and get talking yourself. Show her that she’s not the only one who likes the attention of the opposite sex. When she sees that other women are interested in you too, it makes you seem like a better catch, which will pique her interest.

Race on
Competing with other guys should not be your focus at this point of time. You should compete with yourself. If you’re feeling insecure about another guy, up your confidence by doing something that makes you feel good. Start working out, take up a hobby – focus on improving
yourself. You’ll feel better, more confident and will have a much more relaxed attitude to the whole situation. Women love confidence in a man, so work on doing the things that you love. It will show.
