Want to stay relevant in the job market? Upskill yourselves, says Monster.com CEO Abhijeet Mukherjee
Mukherjee says one will need to have specialised skills to stay relevant in the workforce.

AI and automation aren’t just concepts anymore. The tectonic shift is happening here and now, one that will have a profound impact on the jobs of tomorrow.
So, while a scenario of a sci-fi thriller where robots take over jobs might be far-fetched, is there a possibility that our current workforce is rendered redundant for the jobs of tomorrow? “The digital revolution is changing the business models and nature of jobs.
Organisations are witnessing new roles and skill requirements that didn’t exist five years ago,” says Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO, Monster.com, APAC & Gulf. “It’s a trend that we have also observed on Monster.com for jobs requiring skills pertaining to block chain, artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, content marketing/ SEO, natural language processing, cyber-security amongst others. Clearly, specialised skills to work with intelligent machines will now be imperative to create value in your job, as also the skill and roles emerging to create these machines, which is a human job.”
And what does this entail for India Inc?
Mukherjee says, “Job seekers will need to ride the wave by investing in upskilling themselves. Also, organisations need to run accelerated reskilling programs with faster, shorter bursts of on-the-job, experiential training to prepare the talent pipeline.”
