Want to mute many chats at once? WhatsApp will soon allow users to select multiple conversations on Desktop beta

WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has several projects in the pipeline. The instant messaging platform is constantly working on upgrades and feature updates to make the conversations more secure and easy.

Now as per recent reports, the tech giant is currently working on a new feature that will let users select multiple chats on Desktop beta of WhatsApp.

Most of us have several chats that are unread, or there may be a time when we wish to mute or mark many chats as read or unread but so far WhatsApp doesn't allow users to select multiple chats at the same time.


However, with this feature, WhatsApp users will be able to select different chats all at the same time on the instant messaging platform's Desktop version. However, the feature is currently under development.

Once the feature is rolled out by Meta-owned social network, users will get a new ‘Select Chats’ prompt within the chat menu, as per the report.

When the user selects multiple chats on the platform, they will get options of either marking all the selected conversations as mute, read or unread.

The feature will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta, the WABetaInfo report said.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on a feature that will allow users to report suspicious Status Updates on the platform.

According to a report in WABetaInfo, if a user spots any suspicious message or media file uploaded by another user as a status update which might violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Service, they can report it using the new feature.

The report said that the messaging platform was working on a new feature which would provide users the ability to report status updates right within a new menu in the status section on desktop beta.

The status update will be reported to the moderation team with the help of the new feature.
