Want to kick the butt? Six tips to help you quit smoking
2016 can be the year you finally quit smoking. Follow these tips to help you cope every time you feel the urge to light a cigarette.

Distract yourself
Whenever you feel like smoking, tell yourself that you have to wait for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, try to do something else instead of thinking that you want to smoke. Talk to your friends or make a call to someone to distract yourself.
Listen to music
If you cannot resist smoking, listen to your favourite songs at home or in office whenever you feel the urge to smoke. If it works, do it often.
Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)
Nicotine nasal sprays and nicotine inhalers can be purchased if they have been prescribed by doctors. Some types of NRT, including patches, gum and lozenges, are available overthe-counter.
Consume healthy snacks
If you feel like smoking, take a break from your office or business and eat healthy snacks such as fruit salads and sandwiches.
Wash your face or take a shower
Wash your face or go for a mild shower to feel fresh. It will also help reduce stress and more or less have the same calming effect that most people attain from smoking.
Exercise and meditate
Research shows that smoking is associated with stress and depression. Therefore, deep-breathing exercises, yoga and meditation can help a lot to quit smoking.
