Want to avoid drama on Twitter? New 'unmention' feature will let you untag yourself from tweet. Here's your step-by-step guide
Twitter has rolled out a new feature that will let you have more control over your mentions.

The feature, called 'Unmentioning', allows users to exclude themselves from the tweet and leave the conversation. The tech giant announced the new feature on Monday. "Sometimes you want to see yourself out. Take control of your mentions and leave a conversation with Unmentioning, now rolling out to everyone on all devices," Twitter wrote alongside a snap video explaining the feature.
How Does It Work:
In order to step out of the virtual conversation and unmention your user ID from the tweet, follow these steps:
- Open the tweet where you are tagged
- Tap on the three dots on the top right corner of the tweet
- Click on 'Leave this conversation' option

When you unmention yourself from the tweet, your Twitter handle mentioned on the post will turn grey, indicating to all that you've untagged yourself. You won't be tagged again into the thread.
Last year, Twitter had previewed its unmentioning feature when it was in its initial stage. The micro-blogging site has been coming up with several new features to reduce harassment and bullying.
It had also recently launched an anti-abuse feature called 'Safety Mode' which lets users filter out abuse on Twitter.
