Anil Agarwal said his mother would often feed him sweetened curd when he was little.
The ritual of having curd (dahi) and sugar (cheeni) before an auspicious event is part of most Indian households.

In Hindu tradition, it is believed that consuming a spoonful of dahi-cheeni before stepping out of home brings good luck. Ayurveda has also backed the claims.

Vedanta Resources Limited Chairman Anil Agarwal, who has strong Indian roots, also said that he believes in having some dahi-cheeni before his big speech.

Calling the practice his 'lucky charm', the 68-year-old shared that his mother, who he fondly refers to as Maaji, would often feed him sweetened curd when he was young. He said dahi-cheeni was a symbol of his mother's blessings, more than tradition.

He wrote in his tweet, "My mother would feed me this when I was a kid, not just as tradition but also as her blessings…"

Curd, a natural coolant, is rich in nutrients like calcium, vitamins B-2 and B-12, potassium and magnesium, and can help calm the body, while a spoon of glucose from the sugar brings instant energy.

Agarwal's Vedanta recently entered into a joint venture with Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn to set up a production plant for semiconductor chips and display units in Gujarat. Vedanta-Foxconn also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat government to set up a unit in the state.

The Gujarat plant is said to transform India's role in the industry. Currently. semiconductor chips that are used in cars, mobile phones and other electronic devices are not manufactured in India.

Vedanta-Foxconn would invest Rs 1,54,000 crore to set up the facility in Gujarat, which would create one lakh job opportunities. Out of the total investment of Rs 1,54,000 crore, Rs 94,000 crore will go into setting up the display manufacturing unit, while Rs 60,000 crore will be invested in the semiconductor manufacturing facility.
