Earning her spurs “I moved to Dubai 10 years ago as an automotive journalist. I used to cover track events for my radio show, and one day, as a thank you gesture, Bentley called me asked me whether I would like to test drive the Flying Spur. I was in dreamland. Then I got to review a McLaren 650S and a Ferrari California T. Things just went on from there.”
Talking cars “There aren’t too many women out there who talk about cars. So that one person who I talk the most to about cars is my husband. It constitutes about 90 per cent of our conversations. I can always find men who want to talk about cars. When I was growing up, it was my brother who was always into cars. He used to do up his own cars and fix them. But he likes very different cars from me. He likes jeeps and beefed up 4X4s. He prefers off-roaders, while I am inclined towards luxury cars.”
Dream wheels “Do you know what it is about watching other people drive? I don’t like it because I’m not getting the personal experience. When I go to rallies and I see other people driving, I feel I would much rather be behind the wheel myself. That is where I get the most excitement. I own a Lamborghini Huracan. I would love to buy a Koenigsegg Agera RS. It is such an incredible car. It has so much power, the sound is like no other V8 I’ve ever heard and if you get it just right, then it makes this incredible thunderous clap. I absolutely love that car.”

Tip top “Supercars are not the kind of machines where you open the bonnet and start tinkering with the engine. You take them to specialists and make sure that they’re done right. All the technical aspects I would leave to them. But for me, it’s all about caring about how the car looks. I just got a new paint job and got into trouble for washing it with a wet cloth. It ruins the paint. There is no point in spending a lot of money and time in beautifying your car if it just ends up being dull.”
Engine music “I was part of a really wonderful road trip in Switzerland. It was mainly with hypercars, which are futuristic concept cars. We drove through the mountains and ended up at an airstrip. They had closed the airstrip for us in the middle of the mountain range. Everyone was drag racing their hypercars and because it was in a valley, the thrum of the engines would echo off the mountains. It was just such an incredible thing to hear.”
