Virushka's Covid relief initiative receives over 18,400 donations, raises more than Rs 5.74 cr

With just two days left to the Rs 7-crore target, the #InThisTogether initiative is short of Rs 1.25 crore.
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who started a Covid-19 relief campaign #InThisTogether last week with cricketer-husband Virat Kohli, thanked all the donors on Tuesday.
In her Instagram Story, she shared an image of crowd-funding platform Ketto that showed donations made up to Rs 5 crore for COVID-19 relief work. "A big thank you to all the people who helped us reach this milestone," the Insta Story read. Anushka Sharma's Insta Story The current amount raised stands at more than Rs 5.74 crore on the Ketto website with 18,422 donations.
Starting May 7, a release said that the couple plan to run this initiative on Ketto for seven days. With just two days left to the Rs 7-crore target, the initiative is short of Rs 1.25 cr. To donate for Virat-Anushka's campaign, click here.
The funds raised through this initiative will be directed to 'ACT (Action Covid-19 team) Grants'. ACT Grants which will work towards providing oxygen, medical manpower, vaccination awareness and tele-medicine facilities all through the pandemic and the amount.
Around 55 Indian start-up founders got together last year to fight Covid through an initiative called 'ACT Grants'. The Rs 100-crore initiative was able to help people when the pandemic hit the country in 2020.

A press release from the celebrity couple stated that they have donated Rs 2 crore to a fund-raising project, and hope to raise a total of Rs 7 crore to support the country's fight against the pandemic.
On Saturday, the campaign had achieved 50% of the target by raising Rs 3.6 cr, in less than 24 hours.. Overwhelmed with the positive response, Kohli took to Twitter to urge his fans to 'keep fighting to meet the target and help the country'.

Sharma, on Sunday, had penned a heartfelt note for all the healthcare and frontline workers, lauding their efforts. She said, "We'd like to say a big thank you to all our healthcare and frontline workers, their dedication is truly inspiring." She further added, "You continue to risk your lives for the nation, and for that, we are eternally grateful to you. You are the real heroes, for Virat and I, and for the nation."

In a video message on Instagram, the 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' actress, who turned 33 on May 1, said she didn't feel right to celebrate her birthday this year in the midst of the pain and suffering people of India were going through.
The second wave of coronavirus has infected many, and the number of COVID-19 positive cases has been rising rapidly. In Bollywood also an array of celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Arjun Rampal, Manish Malhotra among others have been infected within a span of a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Anushka is currently embracing motherhood after welcoming her first child with Virat earlier this year. The couple was blessed with a baby girl named Vamika.
