Taking to Instagram, the ‘12th Fail’ star announced his retirement through an emotional post. He explained that while his journey as an actor has been exciting, he is now planning to be a full-time father and husband, and therefore 2025 will be the last year he will be seen onscreen.
“Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father and Son. And also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted,” read his note.

Vikrant Massey’s retirement follows a streak of remarkable achievements. Last year, he received widespread acclaim for his performance in 12th Fail, where he depicted IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma with remarkable depth. In August, he returned with heightened intensity as Rishu in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. His most recent film, The Sabarmati Report, has earned widespread recognition, drawing accolades from figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Vikrant was celebrated with the Personality of the Year award. During the event’s closing ceremony, he reflected on his professional journey, remarking, “I strive to choose projects responsibly. Be it 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, my goal is to entertain while contributing to meaningful cinema.”
Additionally, The Sabarmati Report was screened at IFFI and has been granted tax-free status in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. The film, inspired by the true events of the Godhra train tragedy, has deeply resonated with audiences, amassing Rs 22 crore at the national box office since its release on November 15.
