The film is a remake of a 2017 Tamil film of the same name.
Vikram Vedha’, the Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan starrer saw a massive drop in profits on Monday. According to a Boxofficeindia.com report, the neo-noir action film witnessed a 45% drop in revenue. The film collected about Rs 5.5 crore on Monday. The four-day collection amounted to a modest Rs 43 crore.
‘Vikram Vedha’ was released along with Mani Ratnam’s period drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan:1’ on September 30, 2022. The film is expected to run in the theatres till Diwali.
The film is an official remake of the 2017 Tamil language action thriller of the same name. The movie is loosely adapted from the Indian folktale ‘Vetala Panchavimshati’. The story revolves around Vikram, an honest police officer who tracks down Vedha, a dreaded gangster. Vedha surrenders voluntarily and offers to tell Vikram three stories that would change his perceptions of good and evil.
The Tamil version had R. Madhavan in the role of the earnest cop ( the same role is essayed by Khan in the remake) while Vijay Sethupathi played the role of the gangster with a gift of the gab (played by Roshan in the Hindi version).
This film is the third multi-hero project Roshan had done after ‘Zindagi Nahi Milegi Dobara’ ( along with Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar) and ‘War’ ( where he shared screen space with Tiger Shroff).
The film had less than satisfactory box-office collections despite having positive reviews. The ‘Agneepath’ star recently took to social media to vent his pent-up feelings on the matter. He posted a video in which he could be seen cutting a sacred thread around his wrist. In a heartfelt note, he discussed that this was a ritual he relied upon to help him cope with disappointments. He tweeted, “Vedha has been a terrific journey. Through him, I learned to be at peace with my feelings, be unafraid and unapologetic. Thank you Vedha. I let go with love and gratitude.”

The ‘Krrish’ star went on to explain that he had developed this habit whenever he had to play an unsettling character. “I don’t remember when I started doing this. Was it ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’? Or ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, much later? Will have to go back and check my wrists or neck in those films,” the actor wrote in the post.
