The 2005 film, which paired Vijay with Trisha, is heading back to the big screen at a time when Tamil cinema is seeing renewed interest in classic film re-releases. The timing could also make things interesting for Vijay's family, as his son Jason Sanjay's directorial debut Sigma is also scheduled around the same period.

Vijay and Trisha's Thirupaachi returns to theatres

Thirupaachi is reportedly set for a re-release around October 1-2, 2026, although different reports have mentioned different dates, as reported by TOI. The final release date is expected to be confirmed by the makers. The film originally arrived during the 2005 Pongal season and went on to become a successful commercial entertainer.




Directed by Perarasu in his directorial debut, Thirupaachi gave Vijay a role that combined action with family sentiment. He played Sivagiri, a protective elder brother who travels to Chennai after his sister faces problems in her married life. What follows is a fight against the people who threaten his family.

The film became popular for its mix of action, comedy, emotions and music. While Vijay's larger-than-life moments were a major attraction, the brother-sister relationship remained central to the story.
