Produced by Dil Raju, the music of the movie has been composed by Thaman, the cinematography is by Karthik Palani, and Praveen KL is in charge of the editing table.
The Pongal release clashed with superstar Ajith Kumar-starrer 'Thunivu' and Chiranjeevi-led comedy 'Waltair Veerayya'.
'Varisu' versus 'Thunivu' was billed as the biggest clash in Tamil cinema in recent times as Vijay and Ajith are locking horns after nine years.
In 2014, Vijay and Ajith had releases on the same day with 'Veeram' of Ajith clashing with 'Jilla' of Vijay. Hence, the fans were thrilled to see their favourite stars on the big screen.
The theatres witnessed a heavy rush across Chennai. After the release, the state police had to resort to lathicharge after some fans turned violent and started tearing the movie posters.
