Veteran star Dharmendra receives first dose of Covid vaccine, urges everyone to follow safety precautions against virus

NEW DELHI: Bollywood legendary actor Dharmendra on Saturday received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The 'Sholay' star took to micro blogging site Twitter to share the news with his fans. The 85-year-old, sharing a video clip of him being injected with the vaccine, also requested people to get the vaccine shot.

The star said that he was sharing the video with everyone on Twitter not to brag but to inspire everyone to get vaccinated. "It’s definitely not a show off...but to inspire you all..... Friends, please take care,” Dharmendra wrote on Twitter.

In the short video clip, Dharmendra also asked his followers to continue wearing face masks and to maintain social distancing and follow other safety precautions against Covid-19.


Earlier this month, Former actor and now a politician, Hema Malini,Dharmendra's wife, too got the first jab of coronavirus vaccine at a hospital in Mumbai.

Other celebrities including Mohanlal, Paresh Rawal, Jeetendra, Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, and comedian Johnny Lever have also received Covid-19 vaccination.

On March 1, the government launched the nationwide vaccination drive for everyone above 60 years of age and those aged between 45-59 years of age with co-morbidities.
