Veteran economist, Kaushik Basu was the key speaker at the 23rd Lalit Doshi Memorial lecture

For more than two decades now, leading names from the corporate sector and public services trek to a south Mumbai auditorium once every August. They gather to listen to a prominent speaker, delivering the annual Lalit Doshi Memorial lecture. This year should be no exception, with well-known economist Kaushik Basu taking the mic. Basu has held several senior positions in the past. He served as the chief economic advisor to the government of India from 2009 to 2012. He has also been the chief economist at the World Bank.

The annual lecture series boasts of prominent alumni. Raghuram Rajan (former governor, Reserve Bank of India), Arun Jaitley (union finance minister, India), Deepak Parekh (chairman, HDFC Ltd), Ajit Doval (National Security Advisor) and top cop Julio Ribeiro have been speakers in the past. Last year’s lecture was delivered by Vinod Rai, former comptroller and auditor general of India.
