Varkala & Cochin India's ‘most welcoming’ places, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur follow

According to a survey by a travel company, Kerala is a popular choice among Indians.

Travelling to a new place can leave you with a bad taste in the mouth if you feel unwelcome there. But if a survey by a travel company is to be believed, that is unlikely to happen if Kerala is your place of choice. Varkala and Cochin have emerged as the ‘most welcoming’ places in India followed by Jaisalmer and Jodhpur (Rajasthan).

Out of the top 10, destinations such as Munnar and Thekkady, again in Kerala, feature high up. The survey revealed that for 84 per cent of Indian travelers, friendly and interesting locals are one of their top considerations when selecting a destination for their trip. It also highlighted that resorts (23 per cent) were the most welcoming accommodation types in India followed by homestays (20 per cent), guest houses (12 per cent), hotels (11 per cent) and apartments (11 per cent).
