Varavu OTT release date announced: When and where to watch Joju George's action film

Varavu, the Malayalam-language action thriller directed by Shaji Kailas, premiered in theatres on July 16. The film, starring Joju George in the lead, received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. While some praised the high-energy twists and performances, others found the execution to be predictable. The movie, which reportedly took 98 days to shoot and is set against the backdrop of Kerala's high ranges, is now eyeing a release on the OTT platform. Varavu will start streaming on Zee5 from September 11, giving film enthusiasts the opportunity to watch the movie in the comfort of their homes. The official social media handle of the OTT platform has confirmed the news by sharing Varavu’s poster.

Varavu marks Joju George’s first collaboration with director Shaji Kailas in a Malayalam movie. K. Sajan, known for working with Kailas on projects like Red Chillies, Dhrona 2010 and Chinthamani Kolacase, has written the screenplay for the film.

Varavu: Plot and cast details

Varavu centres around a man named Polachan, also known as Poly, played by Joju George. A wealthy planter, he returns to his native land in Kerala after being released from prison to confront long-standing rivalries and settle unfinished business. As Polachan plots and executes his revenge, he ensures that the blame for his actions falls on Willy (Arjun Ashokan), his younger brother who disappeared 4 years ago.

Besides Joju George, Varavu also stars Vani Viswanath, Murali Gopy, Arjun Ashokan, Saniya Iyappan, Vincy Aloshious, Sukanya, Baburaj, Deepak Parambol, Azees Nedumangad, Abhimanyu Thilakan, and Bobby Kurian in important roles. Varavu is produced by Naisy Reji under the banner of Olga Productions.
