US consulate in Mumbai hosts an early celebration to mark 240th anniversary of independence

The US Consulate in Mumbai recently hosted an early celebration of the 240th anniversary of US independence at the consulate lawns in Bandra Kurla Complex. US Consul General in Mumbai Thomas Vajda and his wife Amy personally welcomed guests including Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The consulate premises were decked up for the event with vintage American cars and a Colour Guard presentation by the US Marines. The evening's key attraction, however, was a choir by the children of the consulate's American officers, who sang the Indian national anthem note for note. A representative told ETPanache how the children, aged between three and 14, had practiced in the weeks leading up to the event and that everyone was really nervous. But the little ones pulled it off with style.
