Unable to find older conversations? Twitter's DM search comes to your rescue

Micro-blogging site Twitter has kept the users waiting for a long time, but its big update is finally here.

The platform finally rolled out a new search feature in Direct Messages (DMs) to help users to find a specific conversation using a keyword. This feature will scan through the content of the conversations, and throw the messages that contain your keyword.

Announcing the new update on the social media platform on Thursday, the official handle of Twitter Support posted a GIF explaining the feature to its 217 million daily active users.


"We know you’ve been waiting for the option to search your DMs... Now you can use the search bar in your inbox to find specific messages using keywords and names," the post said.


If you have had a conversation with a friend about best momos in Delhi or delicious pav bhaji in Mumbai, this feature will make it easy for you to track down the interaction. All you need to do is, just type the keyword 'momo' or 'pav bhaji' into the search bar and you are good to go.

Earlier, the DM search feature let users only look for people's names or group chats.

The previous feature of searching for a person or conversation using names still works. Users can even decide whether they want to see results for people, groups, or messages - handy if the keyword they are trying to search happens to be someone's name.

This feature was already available on iOS for almost two years.

A report earlier said that this change was long due after Twitter brought DM search to Android in May 2021. It had said that the search feature will be introduced later that year.

While the company is slightly behind its deadline, it is now available on all user interfaces.
