Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi hires only experienced travellers - and there’s a reason!

When helming a multi-billion dollar cab aggregator company, building a team of people with a love for the road seems an obvious prerequisite. So, when Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is looking to hire, his idea is simple — hire travellers. But the suave CEO says that most of the people he interviews naturally say that they “like to travel” and that isn’t enough for him.

In a LinkedIn post recently, he said he likes to dig deeper. “Lots of people say they love to travel, but in job interviews I like to dig a bit deeper,” he wrote.

And Khosrowshahi has three questions loaded and ready — ‘What was your best trip?’, ‘What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you on a vacation, and how did you handle it?’ and ‘What is an essential travel packing item or strategy for you?’ Why these particular questions, you wonder? Khosrowshahi says it gives him the key to their personal stories.



“From this, I can glean how they would react in work scenarios. The answers often remind me why I’m grateful to work with a bunch of experienced travellers,” he wrote.
