Twinkle Khanna apologises for ‘unwise wisecracks’ on Akshay Kumar - Mallika Dua row, says reaction was 'purely emotional'
After comedienne Mallika Dua's father Vinod Dua called out Akshay Kumar for his misplaced sexist joke at a TV show that the two were a part of, the latter's wife Twinkle Khanna also jumped into his defence. Twinkle later tried to defuse the whole situation by making a few self-claimed "lame jokes", which were met with harsh criticism from all quarters of social media.

In a recent lengthy Facebook post, Twinkle offered an apology of sorts and wrote, "As I reflect on my actions this past week, I realize that I got pulled into this debate not as a social commentator but as a wife and unlike my normal, slightly rational self, my reaction was purely emotional and without perspective, and I have been rather miserable about it ever since."

Calling herself a 'feminist' from the time she was young, Twinkle further added, "I would like to apologise to everyone who felt that I was trivializing the cause of feminism especially because I strongly believe in equality and have been a feminist from the time I was a young woman, much before I even knew the term."

Here's Twinkle's complete Facebook post.

Mallika, without taking any names, tweeted, "That's the thing about parents. They are protective of their children whether they are 5 or whether they are 28"
