'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar' revives rom-com genre; Ranbir Kapoor- starrer mints over Rs 26 cr within 2 days of release
The film opened to an impressive Rs 15 crore on day one.

The film, which stars two of the dishiest Kapoors of Bollywood - Ranbir and Shraddha, started its box-office journey on a high note and collected Rs 15 crore on its opening day, March 8. According to trade pundits, this was an impressive collection, considering the fact that the rom-com is considered a ‘dead genre’. This number also marked the second-best opening by a Hindi film, just after the SRK starrer ‘Pathaan’.
The second day witnessed a slight dip in the collections as it was a working day, however, the film remained rock steady at the box office and collected about Rs 10 crore. This brings the consecutive figures to Rs 26 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box-office collections of the film in depth. “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar maintains the grip on Day 2… A 34.27% decline on a working day - after a holiday - was inevitable… Biz should start moving from Fri [evening] onwards, with Sat-Sun giving that extra boost… Wed 15.73 cr, Thu 10.34 cr. Total: Rs 26.07 cr. #India biz,” he wrote.
