YouTube servers store millions of songs — both popular artists as well as cover versions. Imagine if you could access just the audio, in effect using it like your personal network audio player. This app lets you do exactly that.

Typically, the YouTube app plays the video (including the video advertisement) and you can’t do anything else on the phone while the video plays. But with uListen, you can create a playlist of your favourite songs and listen to just the audio. It works like a music player and you can use your headphones or use Bluetooth to stream music. Since uListen only extracts the audio, it saves internet bandwidth and plays the tracks faster with minimal buffering on slower networks. The app is ad-supported (a few banners) and probably the only thing we found lacking was the option to manually select audio quality.
