After introducing 'Magic Compose' at the I/O 2023 which was held early this month, Google has started rolling out the feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist users in forming text messages.

In case you struggle with finishing text messages or don't know where to begin from, the 'Magic Compose' tool from Google will help you write.

The feature, which requires the user to be at least 18 or older, is available in English language on Android smartphones. The tech giant has currently rolled out the feature in the US and is soon expected to launch it globally.

As per Google, the 'Magic Composer' is an experimental feature which is available within the Messages by Google application.

The feature crafts sentences, suggests replies to your messages.

How Does It Work?
In order to make 'Magic Compose' function smoothly, Google uses its AI chatbot Bard, which was released earlier this year in March.

According to Google's support page, Magic Compose appears to be limited to RCS conversations in the Messages app.

Users who have access to this feature will need to enable it from the app's Settings menu.

How To Turn It On:
  • On your Android phone, open the Messages app
  • Open or start an RCS conversation
  • Tap Message suggestions
  • To opt in to Magic Compose, tap Try it
  • To keep Magic Compose turned off, tap No thank

Magic Compose currently supports seven styles -- Remix, Excited, Chill, Shakespeare, Lyrical, Formal, and Short.

"Magic Compose can rewrite your draft with suggestions based on the style that you choose," Google said.

However, the feature comes with a significant cation as it will send up to "20 previous messages" to Google's servers in order to generate suggestions even if you use RCS with end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

These messages are then discarded, with Google not storing any data or using it for training its AI models.
