While receiving the award of ‘Adventure Tourer of the Year’ at BBC Top Gear Awards India recently, Sumbly said he was one man who was happy with potholes.

Most of us, drivers and passengers alike, long for smooth roads and a pleasant journey. However, there are some that wish otherwise. For them, the journey is a sport and not just a commute. Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India, knows that his company specialises in adventure bikes and to sell those, he needs rough roads.

While receiving the award of ‘Adventure Tourer of the Year’ at BBC Top Gear Awards India recently, Sumbly said he was one man who was happy with potholes. "I always say that we should tell the government to make roads that are really not roads, so that we can see more adventure bikes,” he said. Well, this is one case where potholes can make the company’s ride smoother.
