The Queen's funeral will be a public holiday in the UK.
The entire world has been mourning the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday evening at the age of 96. She breathed her last at her residence in Balmoral Castle, Scotland.

Tributes have been pouring in for the Queen.

Dairy giant Amul, like always, shared a heartwarming creative themed around the Queen.

The topical showed the late 96-year-old sitting on the throne next to her younger self from her coronation in June 1953.

Titled 'Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II', the text of the ad read, "United Queendom! RIP. 1926-2022."

India's richest self-made banker Uday Kotak, who is also the CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, said that the Queen's "institutional mindset to preserve and nurture British society" during her seven-decade-long reign was 'remarkable'.

"The people of a democratic Britain continue to see value in monarchy in this day and age. True leadership is about institution over an individual," he explained.

Vedanta Resources Limited Chairman Anil Agarwal, who became the first Indian to list his company on the London Stock exchange in 2003, also took to Twitter to express grief over the Queen's demise. He said that the late monarch was 'dignity personified' and an 'exemplar of leadership'.

"Deeply saddened at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ... Heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom," he wrote.

Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises, revealed that the late royal lived through his six generations. Explaining the connection further, he wrote, "My great-grandfather told me stories about his meeting with her. My little one went to Buckingham Palace to see where the Queen lived."

He also shared a few pictures to show how the world was paying tribute to the Queen.

Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said the Queen reigned with a 'deep sense of duty'.

Meanwhile, King Charles III - who took charge of the monarchy after the Queen’s death - declared that the day of his mother's funeral will be a public holiday. He confirmed the decision during his formal accession ceremony on Saturday.

The date of Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral has not been announced, but is expected to be around September 19.

This will be the second extra public holiday for Britons this year - a holiday was declared in early June for celebrations to mark the late monarch's platinum jubilee, for 70 years on the throne.
