WhatsApp is known for being stringent about the features it offers. For instance, the over-the-internet calling feature came to WhatsApp years after its competitors started offering the same. Therefore, the roll-out for general users may still be several months away. Per reports, the new feature will allow users to log in to multiple devices and send messages to themselves from one device to another.

Likewise, reports suggest that WhatsApp will also be bringing a number of privacy-centric features. The application came under serious criticism after reports of security and privacy breaches, along with fishy data policies. The criticism grew in intensity after Meta, then called Facebook, acquired the application in 2014. The new privacy-centric features are in line with the company’s recent updates, which include disappearing messages and options to transfer files up to 2 GB. One of the most important privacy features to have come in recent times is the encryption for backed-up chats.
