The travel industry is changing faster than you can say Azerbaijan. This travel industry has encountered multiple challenges and there has been a shift in the market dynamics. Environment has been challenging but despite the challenges, there has been a substantial progress in the travel segment. The interest for exploring new places, the rise in purchasing power, availability of direct and low fare international flights are the key drivers for the growth of the Indian travel segment. Technology
“This has become an integral part of a traveller’s DNA and plays a criticalrole throughout the journey. In addition to smartphones and social media,various technologies and tools are also impacting the way people travel and industry players operate,” says Suri. These include AI, voice-based applications, ‘big data’analytics, VR and AR. In the foreseeable future, digitisation in travel is only expected to grow; and Indian travellers, especially millennials, are likely to embrace it heartily.
Micro trips
The more the merrier seems to apply to holidays too. “Microbreaks will be increasingly popular and squeezing in more curated travel itineraries into shorter time frames will be preferred due to the improvements inflight routes, transport, cheap flights, on-demand car rentals and accommodation,” says Suri.
Personalisation
We will see an increase as the new-age traveller is well-read, discerning and is keen to explore mono destinations at a slow pace to enjoy the local cuisine and culture instead of combining multiple destinations.

Customization of travel plans has seen a rise in a large way. Indian travellers are actively moving away from the rigid travel itinerary structures of old, and with the increased internet penetration in the country, they are fervently looking for unique experiences that they wish to explore. According to the SOTC India Holiday report, 88% of Gen Z, 86% of Gen Y, 91% of Gen X and 86% of Senior Citizen Indian travellers’ value the personalisation, flexibility and customisation.
Bleisure travel
Suri says that a ‘bizcation’ combines both travel for work and leisure activities is getting increasingly popular. Bleisure travel has been largely preferred by Millennials. Combining work and leisure is considered the most effective way to visit new places.
Mono destinations
