Toy Story 5 OTT release date locked: When and where to watch the latest instalment of Pixar’s latest animated adventure

The wait for Toy Story 5 at home is almost over. The latest Pixar film, which brought Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie back to the big screen, is now set for its digital release after a strong run in cinemas. Fans will be able to rent or buy the film online, while the physical home release will follow later.

For viewers who did not catch the film in theatres, or those who simply want to watch the latest chapter again, here is everything to know about the Toy Story 5 OTT and home entertainment release.

Toy Story 5 OTT release date

As per TimesNow, Toy Story 5 will be available to rent or purchase digitally from August 18, 2026. The film is expected to be offered through participating premium video-on-demand services, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home.


It is worth noting that this is a digital purchase and rental release, rather than a confirmed Disney+ streaming debut. Disney has not announced a separate Disney+ streaming date for the film yet, so viewers looking to watch it at home from August 18 will need to use the digital rental or purchase option where available.

The movie originally opened in cinemas in June and has had a longer theatrical run before moving to home viewing. Its worldwide box office has now crossed the $1 billion mark, according to Box Office Mojo, which lists the film at more than $1.02 billion globally.

What is Toy Story 5 about?

The new film puts the toys in a very different kind of fight. Bonnie is becoming increasingly interested in LilyPad, a digital tablet designed to help children socialise, and this leaves Woody, Buzz and Jessie trying to find a way to bring her attention back to traditional play.

The story does not simply treat technology as the bad guy. Instead, it looks at how gadgets are changing the way children play, interact and use their imagination. Jessie gets more attention this time as well, while Woody returns to help the toys deal with the situation.

The film also introduces characters including Smarty Pants, voiced by Conan O'Brien, while Greta Lee voices LilyPad. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as Woody, Buzz and Jessie respectively.

Taylor Swift has also contributed an original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” to the film. Disney confirmed that the song was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff and was inspired by Jessie's story.

Toy Story 5 Blu-ray and DVD release

For collectors and fans who prefer physical copies, Toy Story 5 will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 22, 2026.

The home release will include behind-the-scenes material, deleted scenes, a gag reel and feature-length audio commentary. A limited-edition 4K SteelBook is also planned, along with a two-film collection pairing the original Toy Story with Toy Story 5 and a five-film collection containing all the main movies in the franchise.
