Toxic box office collection Day 8
Toxic witnessed another slow day at the Indian box office on its eighth day in theatres. According to Sacnik.com, the film earned Rs 5.10 crore net in India on Day 8, with the collection coming from 12,432 shows. The latest figure indicates that the film is struggling to regain the pace it had during its initial days. Despite a strong opening fuelled by Yash’s popularity and the curiosity surrounding the project, the film has seen its collections steadily decline after the first day.
With the Day 8 earnings added to its total, Toxic has now collected Rs 234.70 crore net in India. Its India gross collection stands at Rs 280.25 crore so far.
The film also recorded earnings from international markets on its eighth day. Toxic reportedly added Rs 1 crore to its overseas gross, taking its cumulative overseas collection to Rs 41.75 crore.
As a result, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 322 crore, according to the report.
Toxic struggles after a strong opening
The film’s current box office trend is a notable contrast to the excitement surrounding its release. Yash remains one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, particularly after the phenomenal success of the KGF franchise. That popularity helped Toxic attract audiences in large numbers when it opened on August 26.However, the initial buzz appears to have faded quickly. The film received mixed reactions from critics and audiences, with the negative word-of-mouth affecting its performance in the days that followed.
The comparison with Yash’s previous blockbuster makes the slowdown even more striking. KGF Chapter 2 had earned Rs 430.15 crore net in India within its first five days, while Toxic has reached Rs 234.70 crore net after eight days. The figures shows the considerable difference between the two films' box office trajectories.
Toxic will now have to depend on the second weekend to see whether it can bring more viewers to theatres and slow down the decline in daily collections. With the film already well into its second week, maintaining steady occupancy will be important for its overall theatrical run.
All about Yash's Toxic
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is a period gangster drama featuring an ensemble cast. Alongside Yash, the film stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in key roles. The story is set in Goa during the period when the region was still under Portuguese rule, even though the rest of India had already gained Independence. Against this backdrop, the film follows the rise and fall of a gangster as he attempts to build and protect his power.
Toxic has also generated considerable discussion for its treatment of mature themes. The film includes intimate and steamy sequences, while certain scenes and dialogues involving women have attracted criticism from sections of the audience.
Despite the controversy, the film received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an A certificate and no cuts.
For now, the biggest challenge for Toxic is its box office hold. A Rs 5.10 crore net collection on Day 8 shows that the film has entered a slower phase of its theatrical run. The upcoming weekend will reveal whether Yash’s star power can give the film another push or whether the downward trend will continue. Stay tuned!
