Toxic opened in theatres on August 26 and earned an estimated Rs 101.10 crore net in India on its first day. The opening was impressive, although it fell short of Yash’s previous blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2, which reportedly collected Rs 116 crore net in India on its opening day.The film then saw a sizeable drop on Day 2, when it earned around Rs 37.65 crore net in India. The downward trend continued on Friday. According to Sacnilk, Toxic collected an estimated Rs 26.60 crore net across 19,390 shows on Day 3.
With this, the film’s three-day India net collection has reached Rs 165.35 crore. Its India gross collection currently stands at around Rs 197.70 crore.
The Friday occupancy was estimated at 25.5% overall, indicating that the film continued to attract audiences despite the drop in daily earnings. The weekend could prove important for Toxic, particularly as Saturday and Sunday collections will determine how strongly it can recover after the initial decline.
Toxic crosses Rs 200 crore worldwide
While the domestic numbers have seen a day-on-day drop, the film has continued to add to its worldwide total through its overseas business.Toxic earned an estimated Rs 4 crore gross overseas on Day 3, taking its total overseas collection to approximately Rs 23.75 crore. Combined with its India gross, the film has now reached an estimated Rs 221.45 crore worldwide in just three days.
This means the Yash-starrer has already crossed the Rs 200 crore worldwide milestone during its opening weekend. If the film sees a substantial jump over Saturday and Sunday, the Rs 250 crore mark could come within reach soon.
The language-wise figures also show that the Hindi market is playing an important role in the film’s theatrical run. On Day 3, the Hindi version earned around Rs 19.15 crore, while Kannada contributed Rs 5 crore. The Telugu version added approximately Rs 1.50 crore, followed by Tamil with Rs 75 lakh and Malayalam with Rs 20 lakh.
The Kannada version recorded a stronger overall occupancy of 36.12%, with night shows reaching 50.31%. The Hindi version registered 26.75% occupancy, while its night shows reached 39.62%. Telugu recorded 18.21% occupancy and Tamil registered 20.83%.
Yash’s Toxic: Cast and story
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups features Yash in a dual role. The cast also includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.The film is jointly produced by Venkat K Narayana and Yash through KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP. It is positioned as a period gangster action drama and takes audiences back to Goa during a period when the region was still under Portuguese rule, even after India had gained Independence.
The story follows the rise and fall of a gangster as he navigates a dangerous criminal world shaped by power, violence and shifting loyalties. The film has been mounted on a large scale, with Yash’s performance and Geetu Mohandas’ filmmaking approach becoming major talking points since its release.
With the crucial first Monday ahead, the film’s next target is clear: getting closer to the Rs 250 crore mark and sustaining its run beyond the opening weekend.
