For once, CEOs weren't sweating it out in the boardroom. Early this month, several top bosses from different sectors donned their chef hats for a fundraiser organised by Genesis Foundation in Gurgaon. The spread was eclectic — from hearty Indian fare to global cuisines.

For the executives , cooking seemed a far cry from the anxieties of running a business. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman, Nestle India, cooked dosas. He says, "Cooking for me is a stressbuster sometimes. I could not afford to eat out on a regular basis, so I had to learn my way around the kitchen. I cooked dosas because I'm south Indian and I have yet to meet an Indian who does not like a dosa."

Manisha Sood, Country GM, Fitbit, made dosas too — but they were non-vegetarian. "I started cooking out of necessity as I was the eldest of four daughters and had a working mom," she says.

Some chefs made bigger statements like Suman Bose, MD India, Siemens Industry Software India, who cooked Japanese food. He says, "I have never cooked Japanese cuisine in my life. I hope everyone liked it."
