Skymet weather
Skymet has the ambiguous honour of being the very first “Made in India” weather app.
Ambiguous because the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had launched its in-house app before Skymet.
IMD’s app would have been great, if only it had worked. Like their website, it takes forever to load.
You can receive onthe-go alerts on rain, temperatures and storm warnings in English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Oriya and Telugu. There is also an option to share the update via social media, weather forecast videos and widget support
This is an international app that can be easily tailored to fit the Indian user.
It is easy to use, free to download and delivers personalised weather forecasts. Once you select your location, you will be able to access hourly, 36-hour as well as 10-day forecasts.
Other benefits include the ability to add multiple locations, access to video forecasts and maps.
However, the app does not include a feature to tell the humidity levels.
Bing weather
Developed by Microsoft, this provides hourly, daily and 10-day forecasts, historical details, relevant images and live tiles support.
Unfortunately, this is available only for Windows phone.
