Tiger Shroff firing attack: 'My car was right behind,' says Karan Veer Mehra; he recalls what actually happened as gunshots were fired

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after unidentified gunmen opened fire at his vehicle in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. The firing incident left his driver and along with another person and has triggered a police investigation, raising questions about how the attackers managed to fire at a car carrying the actor in a crowded area. Among those who witnessed the immediate aftermath was television actor and Bigg Boss 18 winner Karan Veer Mehra, whose car was travelling just behind Shroff’s vehicle.

Speaking to NDTV about an hour after the incident, Mehra recalled hearing gunshots and seeing blood at the scene before learning that Shroff’s driver had been shot.

Karan Veer Mehra recalls what happened

Mehra said he realised something was wrong when he reached the spot and saw blood. He then learnt that the actor’s driver had sustained a gunshot injury.

“My car was right behind, you know, by the time my car reached, I just saw blood spots, and I got to know that Tiger's driver had been shot. So, I'm just happy that, you know, he's safe, but my heart goes out to the driver, and I hope he recovers well... There were kids right there, celebrating a birthday party,” Mehra told NDTV.

He also explained why people initially did not realise that a shooting was taking place. There were several people gathered to photograph Shroff, while fireworks were being set off nearby.

“My car was a little behind, and there were a lot of people who were taking photographs. We just heard some gunshots and people shouting that somebody had fired because there were also people celebrating with fireworks. So, we thought it was something to do with that,” he said, as per NDTV.

Firing attack on Tiger Shroff

According to PTI, Shroff was in the Juhu area when gunmen opened fire at his vehicle. Preliminary reports indicated that three to four rounds were fired.

Vlogger Salma Shaikh, who was present at the scene, also said she initially mistook the gunshots for firecrackers. She had been recording a video while calling out to the actor as his car passed.

A video going around on social media reportedly shows two attackers firing at the actor's vehicle while a third person was waiting with a motorcycle. The police are investigating the firing incident to establish the sequence of events and identify those who all were involved in it.

Police investigation underway

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has formed several teams, including personnel from the Crime Branch and local police, in order to identify and catch the attackers who did this.

After the shooting incident, messages circulating on social media purportedly claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, police had not verified the authenticity of those claims.

Shroff’s father, actor Jackie Shroff, confirmed that his son was safe and assisting the authorities.
