Tiger Shroff attack: 5 Bollywood stars who faced assassination attempts on them in the past

The firing incident on Sunday involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai has once again raised concerns about the safety of Bollywood personalities amid threats linked to organised crime. Preliminary reports said unidentified armed men fired multiple shots at a vehicle carrying Tiger Shroff near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu. While the actor was reported to be safe, the attack brought back memories of several other incidents in which film industry figures were targeted by gunmen or received threats to their lives.

From filmmaker Rakesh Roshan surviving a shooting outside his office to gunmen opening fire outside Salman Khan’s residence, the Hindi film industry has witnessed several such incidents over the years. Here are 5 Bollywood personalities who were attacked.

Roshan Rakesh

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan survived an assassination attempt on January 21, 2000 when two unidentified gunmen opened fire outside his office in Mumbai. He sustained bullet injuries to his arm and chest but survived the attack.


The incident followed the success of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, which was the debut of his son Hrithik Roshan. Rakesh Roshan was reportedly targeted after refusing to pay extortion money.

In a BBC interview with Karan Thapar, Hrithik recalled the shock of learning about the shooting just as his debut film was gaining attention.

“He had a bullet in his chest and his arm; I remember he called me up because he was concerned whether I was okay,” Hrithik said, describing how his father feared that other members of the family could also be in danger.

Rajiv Rai

Filmmaker Rajiv Rai, known for directing films such as Gupt, faced a potentially dangerous situation in 1997 when five assailants allegedly linked to the Abu Salem gang attacked him in central Mumbai.

Rai was leaving his office when the attackers opened fire. His police-provided bodyguards, who had been assigned to him because of earlier threats, intervened and managed to fend off the assailants. One of the attackers was reportedly injured during the confrontation.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan has faced repeated threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who publicly said that he will kill the actor in 2018 in connection with the blackbuck poaching case.

On April 14, 2024, two motorcycle-borne men had even fired shots outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments residence in Mumbai's Bandra area. The incident then led to heightened security around the actor.

In court, Khan's bodyguard had recalled seeing two helmet-wearing men on a motorcycle firing towards the building on CCTV footage.

Disha Patani

In September 2025, unidentified gunmen opened fire outside the ancestral home of actor Disha Patani's father, Jagdish Patani, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

The Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang claimed responsibility for the incident on social media. The group reportedly described the firing as a warning following remarks allegedly made by Disha's sister, Khushboo Patani, about spiritual leaders.

Two shooters linked to the incident were later killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad.

Rohit Shetty

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's home in Mumbai's Juhu was targeted in a firing incident on the night of February 1 in 2026.

Police said the attack was carried out by the Shubham Lonkar gang and that the firing was intended to extort money and create fear. Investigators later arrested several suspects in connection with the case.

Pradeep Kumar aka Gaath was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and Mumbai Police Crime Branch in Agra in October 2026.
