Thudakkam OTT release date locked: When and where to watch Mohanlal's daughter Vismaya's debut in the Malayalam action thriller

Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya Mohanlal is set to make her digital debut soon after the theatrical release of Thudakkam. The Malayalam action-thriller, which introduced Vismaya to the big screen, is now moving to an OTT platform after completing its theatrical run. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, Thudakkam opened in theatres on August 7, 2026.

The film has attracted attention not just because of Vismaya’s debut, but also for its survival-driven storyline, action sequences and a special appearance by Mohanlal.

Thudakkam OTT release date and platform

For those who missed Thudakkam in theatres or want to watch the film again, the wait is nearly over. The movie will begin streaming on JioHotstar from September 18, 2026.


The film will be available in Malayalam along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. This means the digital release will take the movie beyond its original Malayalam-speaking audience and make it available to viewers across several parts of India.

The streaming platform announced the digital premiere through its social media channels.

What is Thudakkam about?

Thudakkam follows Meenu, a young woman who is passionate about martial arts and runs a local training institute in a hill village. She lives with her specially-abled father, Ravi, who works as a village officer.

Meenu’s life changes after she helps two schoolgirls get home safely. The seemingly simple act puts her in the path of a dangerous man with a mysterious past. What follows is a series of increasingly disturbing incidents as the stranger begins stalking her and the threat eventually comes much closer to her family.

The film moves into a survival drama as Meenu is forced to confront the danger using the martial arts skills she has developed over the years. The action portions also draw from Vismaya’s real-life Muay Thai training.

Vismaya Mohanlal leads the cast

Thudakkam marks the acting debut of both Vismaya Mohanlal and Aashish Joe Antony, the son of producer Antony Perumbavoor. Vismaya plays Meenu, while Aashish takes on the role of the antagonist.

The supporting cast includes Sai Kumar, Bobby Kurian, Manoj K. Jayan, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Chippy Renjith, Kottayam Ramesh, Jaya Kurup, Jaffer Idukki, T. G. Ravi and Miya George, among others.

Mohanlal also has a special appearance in the movie as Meenu’s martial arts master. His appearance comes at an important point in the story and includes an action sequence.

Thudakkam director, producer and other details

Jude Anthany Joseph has directed the film, with the story and screenplay credited across the writing team including Jude, Akhil Krishna and Linish Nellikkal, based on the details provided by the makers.

Antony Perumbavoor has produced Thudakkam under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner. Jakes Bejoy has composed the music and background score, while Chaman Chakko has handled the editing. Jomon T. John, Akhil George and Sudeep Elamon have been credited for cinematography in the production details provided.

After its theatrical release, the film reportedly earned around Rs 44.60 crore gross worldwide. Its September 18 OTT premiere will now give Thudakkam another opportunity to reach viewers who did not catch Vismaya’s first film on the big screen.
