For most couples, a bedroom is a place to unwind after a long day. For music composer Shashwat Sachdev, it is also a place where a new melody might strike at any hour. His wife, Shruti Sachdev, recently revealed how his determination to capture musical ideas led to a piano and a pair of speakers finding their way into the couple’s bedroom. The amusing story unfolded on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where the composer appeared alongside his family. Behind the laughter was a glimpse into the couple’s early struggles in Mumbai and the passion that has helped Sachdev become one of the names associated with the music of Dhurandhar.

Why Shashwat Sachdev Wanted A Piano In His Bedroom

Shruti recalled that when the couple first moved to Mumbai, they lived in a one-bedroom apartment. The living room doubled as Sachdev’s music studio, leaving the bedroom as their only shared space. As his career progressed and they bought a house, Shruti wanted a clear division between work and home. She told him that the studio would be his space, while the rest of the house would belong to her.

Sachdev had another idea. He suggested keeping a piano at home so he would not have to rush to his studio whenever inspiration struck. However, Shruti agreed to a piano in the living room. But the composer had one more concern: what if he came up with a tune late at night?

She eventually allowed him to keep a digital piano in the bedroom, provided he used headphones. The arrangement seemed settled — until Shruti returned home the next day. Alongside the piano, she discovered two speakers. “This tune has just become an excuse now,” she joked, according to The Indian Express.

‘All Of My Music Is For Her,’ Says Sashwat Sachdev

Sachdev responded to his wife’s account with a romantic explanation of his own. He said Shruti remained the inspiration behind much of his music. “All of my music is for her. If I get a little distracted, I also dedicate some music to God; otherwise, it’s all for her,” he said on the show, as reported by The Indian Express. Their journey also reflects the support often required behind an artist’s success. In an interview with Moneycontrol, Sachdev spoke about the importance of his family in keeping him grounded, even after Dhurandhar brought wider recognition to his work.

When Musical Inspiration Becomes A Family Affair

Shruti’s bedroom-piano story may have entertained viewers, but it also reveals the everyday compromises behind a creative career. For Sachdev, a melody cannot always wait until morning. For his wife, that enthusiasm occasionally means finding unexpected additions to their home.

Their exchange is funny precisely because it feels familiar: one partner’s passion gradually takes over shared space, one small exception at a time. And if Sachdev’s explanation is anything to go by, the piano and its speakers are not simply work equipment. They are also part of his way of turning inspiration and affection for his wife into music.
