This Japanese batter's insane pre-ball video has gone viral on the internet

To hardcore cricket fans, the mention of batsmen such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kris Srikkanth and, most recently, Australia's Steven Smith will conjure up images of some bizarre pre-ball rituals on the international pitch.

Tendulkar had the 'groin split' just as the bowler hit his delivery stride; Chanderpaul used to remove a bail from atop the stumps, drive it into the pitch with his bat to mark his left-handed guard, then brush the pitch; Jayasuriya would repeatedly tug at his visor, pat his box, pull on his pads; between deliveries, Srikkanth used to walk towards the square leg umpire, at times whistling the latest Hindi film tune; and Smith, today's No. 1 Test batsman, repeatedly fidgets with his helmet, bad, flannels with both hands.

But what the young Japanese baseball batter does in the following video outdoes all those idiosyncrasies. He's not just a hyper ball of energy, but has a pre-ball ritual that OCD specialists would have a field day with. And you can be sure that opposing pitchers are going to get a bit flustered with the delay.
