Working in the mental health space can be exhausting. Dealing with patients as one battles centuries of conditioning and a prejudice against mental health workers doesn’t make an easy workday.

There must be an outlet. In a recent interview with a fashion magazine, Neerja Birla, wife of industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and founder of Mpower, a mental health initiative, shared how she unwinds at the end of a long day.

“My exercise is sacrosanct. I don’t take up morning meetings because of that. I also enjoy badminton and have recently started playing throwball,” Birla said.

Some time off also does good. A trekking enthusiast, she completed the Annapurna base camp trek recently. Nothing like the mountains to clear the headspace.
