This Diwali, impress your sweet tooth colleague with a 'candilicious' gift hamper

When it comes to giving gifts to your colleagues, it is better not to be too personal.

Gifts are a reflection of you, more than they are a reflection of the recipient.
When it comes to gifting a co-worker, you have to walk a fine line. Your hamper should be thoughtful, but it shouldn’t be too personal. Samir Gadhok and Avani Raheja, founders of Provenance, share their tips on how to make a perfect hamper for your colleague.

Dos:
1. Gifts are a reflection of the giver as much as it is of the recipient. Focus on the underlying quality of the product being gifted rather than the packaging or size. Choose substance over matter.

2. Diwali is a festival celebrated with friends and family. When choosing the gift consider if the person has a family or lives alone. Pick a gift assortment accordingly. For instance, if you are giving a gift to someone who is a parent, you might want to consider adding chocolates or candy, enjoyed by children and adults alike.

3. Be considerate of the recipients personal choices. For instance, if you know that your colleague is following a keto diet and you pick a gift accordingly, it will certainly leave a lasting impression.

Don'ts:
1. When choosing gifts for colleagues, one must be realistic about how well we know them. Stay away from perfumes, clothes or jewellery which are intended to be put on the recipient's body and are extremely personal and subjective choices.

2. If you are gifting a large group of colleagues and do not know them very well, stay away from gifts that could be offensive to a group of people. For instance, products that have alcohol or are non-vegetarian could hurt certain sentiments.

3. Consider what gift you are giving, says about you. Stay away from prank gifts and gags as they might not be well received in a professional setting.
