When the push from film to digital photography was complete, old-school photographers were a grumpy lot. Digital will never match the look that film creates: the grain, the colour and the character of film cannot be recreated by a digital camera.
Photographers still spend hours on a computer, editing their images in an effort to simulate the look of film stock. Well, you can now also do this with an app called RNI Films. They base their filters on real film stock, which is why you’ll see names like Agfa and Fuji on the filters.
Incidentally, RNI (Really Nice Images) also makes presets for Lightroom and Photoshop – but the app is a lot easier to use and allows anyone to achieve a film look with a cellphone camera. Once done, you can either save the photo to your camera roll or share to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
