Working from home is often seen as more flexible than working from the office. But for many remote employees, that flexibility comes at the cost of a proper lunch break or a proper log-off time, with one task always pending. A post by techie Rutuja on X has resonated with professionals who say eating while working has become a daily reality for her, since she works from home.
Sharing her experience, Rutuja wrote that anyone who works from home knows there is "no such thing as a lunch break." She explained that instead of stepping away from work, people often find themselves eating while replying to messages, attending meetings or trying to finish "just one last task."
Her post quickly struck a chord with remote workers, many of whom admitted they face the same challenge and shared how they have tried to create healthier work habits.

Over time, however, they started setting aside a fixed lunch hour and informed teammates about it. They also updated their Slack status during lunch so colleagues knew they were unavailable. Another remote worker pointed out the difference between office and home routines. They said that while lunch at the office always happened around 12:30 pm, working from home often meant that lunchtime "never came."
The discussion has sparked conversations about one of the lesser-known downsides of remote work.
