Designer Manish Arora’s office responds to a social media post, citing his South Mumbai store employees had to look for the facility elsewhere, for want of a functional restroom.

Designer Manish Arora’s three-month old store in Kala Ghoda was recently making news on social media, after a post by an employee of an art gallery said that the boutique did not have a functional restroom.

The post has now been taken down. Apparently, staff members and customers at the store have to cross over to the art gallery or go to nearby restaurants to use the restroom.

However, the management team for Arora’s store said there was a restroom in the boutique, but they were awaiting permissions to use it. In an email response, the management said, “Kala Ghoda is a heritage district in Mumbai and acquiring permissions from the necessary bodies tends to take time."

The restroom, they said, would be functional in the next two to three months. “While hiring a team, we had communicated this hiccup to all prospective employees and we also made adequate fund provisions, should they need to pay to utilise sanitation facilities elsewhere around the area in the interim. We did the best we could within our means to make it a suitable environment for our team," the email said.
