The Odyssey ticket prices in India
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is still a few days away from its theatrical release, but it has already become one of the biggest talking points among movie fans in India. The excitement around the film is reflected in advance bookings, especially for IMAX screenings, where premium seats are disappearing fast. At the same time, ticket prices have surprised many, with the cost of watching the film in some cities climbing well beyond what audiences usually pay for a movie.

The biggest shock has come from Mumbai, where IMAX recliner tickets have touched Rs 3,100. In Delhi NCR too, premium seats are being sold for as much as Rs 2,500. While many Christopher Nolan fans are treating the film as a once-in-a-lifetime big-screen experience, others have questioned whether movie tickets should cost this much.

Mumbai records the highest ticket prices

Mumbai currently has the costliest tickets for The Odyssey. At PVR ICON, Phoenix Palladium in Lower Parel, recliner seats are priced at Rs 3,100 for multiple IMAX shows throughout the day, making them among the most expensive movie tickets sold in India.

At Miraj Cinemas IMAX in Wadala, recliner tickets are available for Rs 2,500 across several screenings. Other seating categories range from around Rs 900 to Rs 2,000 depending on the show. Across several other IMAX theatres in the city, recliner seats are generally priced between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,800.

Delhi NCR also sees premium pricing

Delhi NCR is not far behind. At PVR IMAX with Laser, Priya in Delhi, recliner tickets for the 4:45 pm show are priced at Rs 2,500. Recliners for the 9:45 am, 1:15 pm, 8:15 pm and 11:45 pm shows are listed at Rs 2,100, while other seat categories are available at lower prices.

At PVR Select City Walk, recliner tickets go up to Rs 2,400, with regular seats mostly falling between Rs 900 and Rs 1,100. In Noida, PVR Superplex Logix has recliners priced at Rs 1,800 and Rs 1,850, while standard seats range between Rs 800 and Rs 1,100.

For those looking for a more affordable option, INOX Coca-Cola IMAX at Paras, Nehru Place has ticket prices starting at Rs 520 for the 11:15 am show.

Bengaluru, Kolkata offer comparatively lower prices

In Bengaluru, IMAX tickets have gone up to Rs 1,950 at Cinepolis Nexus Shantiniketan. At PVR VR Bengaluru on Whitefield Road, ticket prices vary across shows and seating categories, ranging from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,850.

Kolkata has relatively lower pricing. At INOX South City Mall, tickets are available around Rs 1,240 and Rs 1,100 for several shows, while select morning and evening screenings are priced lower.

Reports also note that ticket prices in Chennai have remained significantly lower, with shows capped at around Rs 508.

Why the film is drawing so much attention

The high prices are also linked to the scale of the production. Nolan has written and directed The Odyssey and is producing it with Emma Thomas, while Universal is backing the project.

The film is the first feature to be shot entirely using IMAX's largest film format with new IMAX technology, making premium-format screenings a major attraction. Based on Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o and several other actors in key roles.
