The magical weekend: Paris Hilton gets engaged to entrepreneur Carter Reum on her birthday

It has been a week of love for socialite and international influencers Paris Hilton, who is the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, Hilton Hotels founder.

A pre-dinner walk on the beach turned into a magical evening when Hilton's entrepreneur-boyfriend, Carter Reum, dropped on one knee to propose to his girlfriend after dating for over a year.



Taking the engagement news to social media, the 40-year-old businesswoman said that this was the kind of proposal she had always dreamt of.

Reum, who is an author and a venture capitalist, planned the special day on Hilton's birthday on Wednesday. The 40-year-old fiancé gave Hilton a one-of-a-kind diamond ring designed by jeweller Jean Dousset, Louis Cartier's great-great-grandson.

What appears to be a 15-20 carat emerald cut diamond ring was termed 'Paris', and the jeweller took inspiration from the French city when designing it. On her website, Hilton said that a group of the finest diamond cutters, polishers, jewellers and setters were assembled for the making of 'Paris'. "Influenced by both classical and Art Nouveau motifs, it is framed by forms that resemble the vaulted glass ceiling of the Grand Palais.

Industry experts feel the ring may cost over $1 million or even $2 million.

After the proposal, the couple celebrated the night with family and close friends. Hilton's siblings Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Barron Hilton, brother-in-law James Rothschild, and Reum's mother Sherry and brother Courtney were present.

Hilton made her relationship with Reum Insta-official in April last year.

The couple have known each other for around 15 years, but they began dating in November 2019 after a nice Thanksgiving meal.
