Ramesh Tainwala, Samsonite’s CEO since 2014, stepped down from his role citing personal reasons. The current Textile Minister’s educational qualifications came under the scanner during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In an affidavit for the polls, Irani had said she completed her BA in 1996 from DU(School of Correspondence), whereas in another affidavit of 11 July, 2011, to contest Rajya Sabha election from Gujarat, she had said her highest educational qualification was B.Com Part I from the School of Correspondence, DU. What inspired you to pursue your craft? I have always found it fascinating to build meaningful connections between consumers and the brand. In today’s world, where product features could be comparable, it is up to the marketer to create an ‘emotional connect’ with the brand. I truly believe that story telling is key to luxury experiences. A product that embodies fine craftsmanship, precision and high quality successfully transitions into a sustained brand when there is an emotional connect complementing the aspirations of the consumer.
What does creativity mean to you? For me, creativity is an expression, which is pure and meaningful. In creativity, what I enjoy most are the nuances of handcrafted imperfection.
