Sharing the trailer on social media, the makers wrote, “They targeted our daughters. They broke their trust. They stole their futures. This time, we do not stay silent. The story goes beyond. Is baar sahenge nahi… ladenge. #TheKeralaStory2GoesBeyond trailer out now. In cinemas on 27th February, 2026.”
Trailer Opens With Stark Warning
The three-minute trailer begins with a voiceover warning that in the next 25 years, India could become an Islamic state ruled by Sharia law. This sets a tense tone from the very start. The first story is set in Rajasthan. A Hindu family is seen approaching the police to file a POCSO complaint. They allege that their 16-year-old daughter was coerced into religious conversion for marriage. The visuals focus on the parents’ distress and fear, making their emotional state central to the sequence.
The narrative then shifts to Madhya Pradesh. Here, a young Hindu woman is shown entering a relationship that later turns into a marriage built, as suggested in the trailer, on manipulation. After marriage, she allegedly faces pressure to change her religion. The scenes highlight her isolation and inner conflict.
The final part moves to Kerala and parts of South India. A Muslim journalist convinces his Hindu girlfriend to enter a live-in relationship. She makes it clear that she will never convert. He reassures her, but the situation escalates. The trailer shows moments of confrontation, including scenes where she is pressured regarding her faith.
Netizens Divided
Soon after the new trailer dropped, social media was flooded with reactions. Some users called it a “brutal truth” and said such films need support. Others labelled it propaganda ahead of the 2026 elections. A few questioned the title itself, asking, “Where is Kerala in Kerala Story?” while others commented that the absence of Adah Sharma made the sequel feel incomplete.Cast And Expanded Narrative
Unlike the first film which starred Adah Sharma, the sequel features Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in the lead roles. The story follows three Hindu girls from different states whose relationships take a disturbing turn. According to the makers, the sequel attempts to broaden the narrative beyond Kerala and place it on a wider national canvas. The original film, The Kerala Story, had faced legal and political challenges before and after its release. Petitions seeking a ban were filed in courts including the Supreme Court of India. The court allowed the release but asked for a disclaimer clarifying that the story was fictional and not backed by verified data. Political leaders like Pinarayi Vijayan and Shashi Tharoor had criticised the earlier film, calling its claims exaggerated and questioning its statistics.
