The importance of hair apparents

We are told not to judge books by their covers or people by their appearances, but the importance of being easy on the eye cannot be denied in professions where interactions are crucial. In that context, the election of Donald Trump was probably an affirmation of that lofty ideal of impartiality as his face has never been his fortune. Notwithstanding his adamance when it came to his year-round sunless tan, however, it is obvious that he has carefully husbanded his hair cover. And a factoid that came up during the 2020 elections points to a possible reason: Americans have not elected a bald man to the White House since the advent of 24×7 television coverage. Russians apparently think quite the opposite on that count, but not since Dwight D Eisenhower has a US president’s pate been openly visible to the public.

Therefore, the importance of the sparsely carpeted crown of the oldest-ever US president-elect — unchanged despite decades of hair-raising public service — cannot be taken lightly. Indians do not split hairs on this issue when it comes to leaders as several heads of State and government have been follicly challenged. Six of the 14 male prime ministers have been clean-shaven, but India has been led by bearded men for most of the 21st century. Whether this progression can be deemed a trend is unclear.
