The Harman Kardon Traveler is the ultimate travel companion designed for those on-the-go

Harman Kardon is one of our favorite brands when it comes to wireless Bluetooth speakers. The latest offering from the company is a portable speaker called the Traveler – and it is aimed at users who are regularly on the move and want a compact yet robust speaker.

The Harman Kardon Traveler is not just a simple wireless speaker, it is also a power bank and a conferencing system. Weighing just 300 grams, the speaker is compact in size and easy to carry around in your backpack. It has a aluminum unibody design with speaker grill upfront, control buttons on top and connectivity ports on the side. Underneath, the speaker has a rubber grip base which helps the speaker sit firmly and not vibrate when played at high volumes. The top of the speaker has the buttons neatly laid out in faux leather finish along with indication LEDs which add to the overall premium appearance of the speaker. Overall, we feel the Traveler is one of the most elegant looking compact speakers available.



Sound quality is surprisingly great from the small enclosure. The output is loud enough for use in medium size room - keep in mind that the speaker is meant for personal listening so don’t expect to use it in a party. We used the speaker for various genres of music and it impressed us in almost every department. You get a good amount of bass and treble for most genres except dance music – EDM lovers might find the bass lacking for their taste. We also noticed that at maximum volume, the output tends to become jarring – this is a common issue we have seen on compact size speakers.



Other than being a wireless speaker, the Traveler also doubles up as a conference speaker. It has dual microphone built-in which work great even if you keep it in the center of a meeting table and speak from a distance. In addition, it also works as power bank – it has a built-in 2,500mAh battery which can be used to charge connected devices.

In our opinion, the Harman Kardon Traveler would be loved by people who want an all-in-one portable speaker. However, the portability comes at a steep price as for the asking price, you can easily get a 10,000mAh power bank and a good Bluetooth speaker from Xiaomi, Boat, Logitech and even JBL.
