Directed by Michael Chaves and written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, The Conjuring: Last Rites is the ninth chapter in the popular series, inspired by the real-life Smurl haunting. The story kicks off in 1964, showing Ed and Lorraine dealing with a tragic incident while investigating a haunted antique mirror. Lorraine’s prayers miraculously revive her stillborn child, Judy, who later becomes sensitive to psychic visions.Fast-forward twenty-two years, the Smurl family moves into a Pennsylvania home where supernatural terror erupts through the same cursed mirror. The family faces attacks from multiple spirits, culminating in a showdown with a powerful demon. Ed, Lorraine, and Tony help Judy harness her psychic abilities to defeat the malevolent entity, leading to a tense but satisfying conclusion that ties back to the Warrens’ original investigation.
Fans outside India can now rent the film on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango for $25, while Blu-ray and DVD editions, featuring deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage, are set to release on November 25, 2025. As per information on Prime Video, the movie is available for streaming, but on rental basis at Rs 499.
